LASI23 Travel & Venue

LASI23 is hosted by the National University of Singapore at the University Town campus. All international travelers will be staying in the Prince George's Park Residence on the Utown campus.

Important Note for all International Travelers: You must complete the Singapore arrival card within 72 hours prior to your arrival. Please be sure to check all visa requirements as well for your country. To complete arrival card, visit: https://www.ica.gov.sg/enter-transit-depart/entering-singapore/sg-arrival-card 

Note: The NUS campus is about a 20 minute taxi ride from the Changi Airport. There are traditional taxis that can be taken to campus or the rideshare company called Grab.

Travel from overseas

For those of you travelling from overseas, the first thing to know about traveling within Singapore is the official language of business is English. If you have questions or are confused about where you are, or how to get to where you are going, you can often ask any staff around you and they will try and help you out.

You should also note that within 72 hours of landing in Singapore you’ll need to have completed your Singapore Arrival Card (https://eservices.ica.gov.sg/sgarrivalcard/). If you are staying at Prince George’s Park Residences (PGPR), you can use the following address:

If you will not be using your mobile phone or purchasing a Singapore-based SIM card after arriving in Singapore, you can use +65.6601.5650 as the local contact number.

Travel from Changi Airport

There are three main ways of getting to PGPR from Changi Airport.

Taxi (30-45 minutes) approx. S$40.00 (Major credit cards accepted):

  1. After claiming your baggage, make your way to the Taxi queue out of the airport
  2. The attendant (if one is on duty) will direct you to a taxi
  3. Ask the driver to take you to Prince George’s Park Residences at NUS (27 Prince George's Park, Singapore 118425)
  4. The driver will ask you to alight at the top of PGPR
  5. If you arrive during working hours someone will be there to greet you with your room key near a LASI23 sign
  6. If you intend to arrive after working hours, please share your estimated arrival time with alsbox1@nus.edu.sg to ensure someone is around to hand you your room key
  7. There is a map at the bottom of the staircase near the drop-off point to help you navigate through PGPR
  8. Note: The main PGPR office is located down the stairs and to the left of the drop-off point

 

By Grab (30-45 minutes) approx. S$40.00 (Major credit cards accepted):

  1. Before departing for Singapore or within Changi Airport’s install the Grab App.
    Note: Grab is Southeast Asia’s version of Uber.
    Note: Changi Airport has free WiFi
  2. Register your profile with the app.
  3. Make your way to the Taxi queue area
  4. Hail your ride to 27 Prince George's Park, Singapore 118425
  5. Follow steps 4-8 from the Taxi instructions

 

By train (75-90 minutes) approx. S$4.00 (single ticket)

  1. Purchase an MRT card from the cashier’s booth at the Changi Station

  1. Board the East-West Line towards Tanah Merah Station
  2. Alight at Tanah Merah Station 2 stops later
  3. Board the East-West Line towards Tuas Link Station
  4. Alight at Buona Vista Station 17 stops later
  5. Follow the signs from the East-West Line to the Circle Line (go down the escalators)
  6. Board the Circle Line towards Harbourfront Station
  7. Alight at Kent Ridge Station 2 stops later

  1. Take Exit A out of Kent Ridge MRT Station
  2. Hang right and pass through the tunnel opposite of NUS hospital
  3. At the top of the tunnel ramp board Campus Shuttle Bus A2, D2, or K (the shuttle is free)
  4. Alight at the Prince George’s Park Residences stop
  5. Follow Steps 5-8 from the Taxi instructions.

 

Check-in and check-out of PGPR

If you are arriving to PGPR on Monday, 5 June during the normal check-in period (2pm-6pm), look for the LASI23 signage and Michele Teh at the PGPR drop-off area to receive your key. Attendees will need to complete a form prior to receiving their key.

If you are arriving outside of that window, please make sure to let us know of your flight number and arrival time as well as your expected arrival at PGPR via an email to alsbox1@nus.edu.sg to make sure someone is on hand to give you your room key. Rooms will be assigned at the point of check-in at PGPR. 

All guests must check out before noon on Friday by returning their key to Michele at the PGPR drop-off point from 8am-noon on Friday. For attendees checking out before Friday @ 8am, there will be a box stationed outside Michele’s door in PGPR to drop the key in and a check-out form. We will send exact location of the box once we know it. For attendees leaving directly from LASI23 on Thursday, keys can be returned to Michele on site. Michele will confirm the return by completing a form.

Venue Information:

All LASI23 events will take place on the Utown campus within UTown Plaza. Registration will take place outside of the UTown Plaza Auditorium 1 on Level 1. Workshop and Tutorial rooms will take place on Level 2 in Seminar rooms 2-5. Each location is also identified on the LASI23 Schedule page.

All international guests will be housed in the Prince George's Park Residence (PGPR). There is a free shuttle between these two destinations throughout the day.

Signage for LASI23 will also be visible on the days of the event to guide guests to the appropriate locations. Room locations for all workshops/tutorials/talks will be provided to registered attendees closer to the event.

 

Travel to and from LASI23 in UTown Plaza

To get to UTown Plaza from Prince George’s Park Residences

  1. Head up the stairs near the PGPR drop-off point
    Note: The buses do not receive passengers at the drop-off point
  2. Turn left and walk a block
  3. Cross the street to the PGP bus stop
    Note: You should be able to see the bus stop from the original drop-off point
  4. Board D2
  5. Alight at the University Town bus stop
  6. UTown Plaza is located along the left side of the walkway near the food court and before the green lawn. The event will start in UTown Plaza Auditorium 1 on Level 1 each day. Workshops and Tutorials will be held in the seminar rooms on UTown Plaza Level 2 which is just up the spiral staircase or the elevators.
    Note: There should be signs for LASI23 to help with the navigation

 

To get to UTown Plaza via Taxi or Grab:

  1. The address for UTown Plaza is:

  1. If you are alighting from the Stephen Riady Centre drop off point (https://goo.gl/maps/4EkZX6dxJCEvy5FDA), head up the stairs to Level 1.
    1. Follow the link bridge to your right.
    2. UTown Plaza Auditorium 1 will be on your right before the food court.
  2. If you are alighting from Create Tower (https://goo.gl/maps/oC4nFTYApd1zX8QX9):
    1. Head down the path to your left
    2. UTown Plaza Auditorium 1 will be on your left after the food court

 

To get to Prince George’s Park Residences from UTown via campus shuttle:

  1. From the UTown bus stop, board D2
  2. Alight at the PGP Foyer
