Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Product Manager to join our team in a part-time capacity, focusing on UX development and testing for the M-Powering Teachers (MPT) App developed by researchers at Stanford University, University of Maryland (UMD), and Harvard University. This tool uses Natural Language Processing (NLP) and AI to analyze classroom recordings and provide teachers and coaches with actionable insights to develop teaching practice. The MPT team includes researchers, educators, engineers, and UX designers, and we are looking for a product manager to coordinate the next phase of this project as use of the app expands.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate product development and maintenance with team of researchers and engineers
  • Guide the development of intuitive interfaces for the MPT app
  • Ensure the product effectively bridges technical analysis and practical teaching applications
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for user inquiries and feedback
  • Participate in regular research team check-in meetings
  • Document and track product requirements and development progress

Required Qualifications

  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Experience or strong interest in educational technology
  • Experience with UX design and development (Figma or other similar software)
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into user-friendly experiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of coding and software development principles
  • Understanding of product development methodologies
  • Previous experience in an educational setting
  • Experience with product analytics and metrics

Position Details

  • Part-time position: Up to 10 hours per week (flexible scheduling)
  • Initial 1-year term with potential to extend up to 3 years
  • Remote work options available

About Us

The M-Powering Teachers Project is a research collaboration between Harvard, Stanford and the University of Maryland (UMD). This position will be hosted by the EduNLP Lab at the Stanford Graduate School of Education the Center with support from the Educational Data Science & Innovation at UMD
