Are you passionate about learning analytics, artificial intelligence and transforming medical education? We’re searching for a highly motivated PhD student to join our Learning Analytics unit, one of the most innovative and productive centers of its kind in Europe! You’ll be at the forefront of the CRETIC project, funded by the Research Council of Finland. You will work with multimodal learning analytics and explainable AI to improve emergency training for healthcare students within a gamified simulation environment. Your work will directly impact how future healthcare professionals are trained.

🗓 Requirements
- A Master’s degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science, Data Science, Educational Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong proficiency in programming and software development.
- Experience with data analysis and machine learning.
- Familiarity with multimodal data collection and analysis, or a strong interest in learning these skills.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research, including literature review, experimental design, and data analysis.
- Experience with academic writing. A track record of publications is an advantage.
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Finnish is not required but a plus.
- Willingness to engage in research mobility, including short-term stays at partner institutions or conferences abroad.

- Duration: 4-year term, starting as soon as September 2024
- Competitive Salary: EUR ~2500€/month
- Location: Joensuu, Finland
